Support in meetings

Often parent/carers of young people with additional needs have to attend meetings about their child. This can be difficult, frustrating and overwhelming. Whilst we cannot guarantee you will get the response you agree with, we are very good at making your feelings known.

We have been in meetings where as many as 17 professionals have been present.

We can help you in a number of ways:

  • Talking and liaising with professionals on your behalf, including requesting responses to emails and phone calls.
  • Attend meetings with you, ask honest and open questions and offer support to you.
  • Just be there for moral support.  Even the strongest of parents need a reassuring smile sometimes.
  • Write notes on your behalf in meetings.
  • Help you to understand the terms used by professionals and what that may mean for your child/family.
